The Electricity Board van, driven by Harry Chapman and his lineman, Ted Goldsmith, was on its way back to Southwold at 9.30 in the evening after attending an emergency in Blythburgh. At Might's Bridge, they were forced to abandon the vehicle in the face of the oncoming tide. They were just in time; the van was abruptly washed away and finished up across the marshes. P2384 |
